Megan Rha, Esq.
Megan Rha is a partner at Rha Kim Grossman & McIlwain, LLP (“RKGM”). She immigrated to the United States from South Korea when she was nine years old. Educated within the New York City public school system, she went upstate to study at Cornell University as a History major. She proceeded to study law at St. John's University as a full merit scholarship recipient, and received her Juris Doctorate cum laude in 1997.
She practiced law for many years as an Assistant District Attorney for Nassau County,and investigated and prosecuted various kinds of criminal cases, including charges related to sex offenses, narcotics sales, burglary, robbery, assault, fraud, and identity theft.
Ms. Rha met D. Jenny Kim as a colleague in the Nassau County District Attorney's Office and founded the law firm of Rha Kim Grossman & McIlwain, LLP in 2007. Ms. Rha has also practiced civil litigation and regulatory law in New York and in Washington, D.C. as part of small, mid-sized, and large law firms. She is one of the group of elite attorneys who has presented (and resoundingly won!) an oral argument in front of a three judge panel in the highest federal court serving our region, the Second Circuit Court of Appeals. Ms. Rha believes in a team approach to all cases, regardless of the size of the case, and implements this approach in the cases handled by the firm. Since 2007, Ms. Rha and the legal team at RKGM have represented and advocated for thousands of businesses, individuals, and organizaions throughout New York City in transactional and litigation matters. Ms. Rha tends to her clients and the RKGM team as she does the plants in her garden- with consistent attention, a lot of care and support, and guidance through the seasons.
In addition to practicing law, Ms. Rha volunteers her time and expertise serving on the boards of many non-profit and organizations and educational entities, and teaching and training in legal and non-legal subject areas. She has been appointed to serve as a legal advisor to the Korean Consulate General of NY and to the Korean American Parents Association of Greater New York. She has been selected by the Queens Borough President to serve as a member of the Queens General Assembly and a member of Community Board 11. Ms. Rha is fluent in Korean, and is a recognized leader in the Asian-American and parent communities of New York.
